From chains to changed

This Wasn’t Always My Story

Compassionate leader, author, advocate and speaker for mental health and addiction recovery, dedicated to transforming lives through my work and resources, and founder CEO of several multi-million dollar businesses.

That’s Kat NOW. But if you're reading this, you're possibly standing where I once stood: exhausted, unsure, overwhelmed, and hopeless. I see you. Because I’ve been you.

Nine years ago, I was DEEP in it. I didn’t know what was wrong with me, I just knew something had to change. I wasn’t convinced I was an alcoholic or that the word ‘addict’ applied. I wasn’t ready to call myself anything, really. But I was willing to take one small step.

My path to sobriety wasn’t straight. I tried to outrun the chaos with hustle, perfectionism, control. None of it worked. Not until I got honest, got connected, and started showing up, even when I didn’t feel ready.

“I don’t pretend to have it all figured out. I still do the daily work. I HAVE to do the daily work. Because for me, sobriety isn’t a label, it’s a commitment. A way of living anchored in truth, not performance. An intentional pursuit of wholeness, not perfection.”

1 November 2015

Sobriety day one. The day everything changed.
Not dramatic. Not perfect. Just a decision. I woke up, looked at my life, and knew I couldn’t live in the chaos anymore. That was day one. No fanfare, no guarantees. Just a quiet, defiant decision: I will not go back. That’s the day I walked into an AA meeting and chose sobriety, that was my one small step forward.

October 2018

Founded Laguna Shores Recovery, a safe space providing evidence-based, compassionate care for people navigating addiction and mental health struggles.

2022

Social Media Growth. I hit “post” on my first public platform... and everything changed.
No more pretending or pretence of a perfect life. Just the truth: what sobriety really looks like, what I was learning, and who I was becoming. Not sharing to perform, sharing to connect. And people showed up. That’s when this became bigger than me.

January 2023

First podcast mic. First time telling the truth out loud.
I said yes before I felt ready. Shared my story while I was still writing it (and still am...) But that mic cracked something open - and I haven’t stopped speaking since. Forever grateful for that first guest invite! That first interview lit a fire I didn’t know I had, and showed me the power of your voice.

November 2024

Created The Sobriety Journal. The tool I wish I had when I was white-knuckling sobriety day one, and that I now use every day 9 years in. It’s not just pages. It’s a mirror, an anchor, and an intentional kind of accountability. This is where clarity begins, one honest page at a time.

November 2024

Launched Chains to Changed, my heart project. My people. A free online sober community, this isn’t just a community. It’s a movement. I built it for the woman I used to be: scared, unsure, not ready, but still craving something more. This is where we break cycles. This is where we come home to ourselves.

Impact

Together, we’re rewriting what recovery can look like

So if you’re here wondering if you’re “bad enough” to get help, or “ready enough” to change… let me just say this: you don’t have to be 'enough'. You just have to be honest with yourself. And you have to be willing.

This is your invitation to take that one small step. To say yes, even if your hands are shaking. You don’t have to do this alone. You were never meant to.

I’m so glad you’re here.
